Ray Price Racing Regains Points Lead

Solid finish for race team at AHDRA Thunder-in-the-Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway

Raleigh, NC

Five weeks ago, Ray Price Racing headed back to North Carolina to contemplate how to prepare for the AHDRA Thunder-in-the-Valley Nationals at Bristol, TN. The team was still brooding over their first round knockout due to a hot slick 1//8 track at Kansas International Raceway, and the team was determined the Ray Price 1,000 horsepower nitro Harley drag bike was going to make some spectacular thunder in the valley.

Track problems again caused havoc on race day and qualifying was delayed until Saturday night due to water percolating up through the track. First round under the lights saw the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team run 6.556 ET at 219.79 mph. Approaching the witching hour in round three the team ran a equally impressive 6.578 ET at 213.12 mph to finish off a long, grueling day.

At the start of Sunday's eliminations, the team had one goal, to gain as many points as they could by moving up the ladder to the finals. Coming into the event Sternotti and the team were tied for first place with 518 points. First round action saw the team run a respectable 6.552 ET at 220.26 mph to move into second round. Having to get off the throttle early prevented the team from moving into the finals but still provided the necessary points to move into first place alone.

With only a 21 points difference separating Sternotti and second place competitor Jay Turner the team needs to make up as much ground as possible heading into the final three races of the 2010 AHDRA season. "Our focus going into Woodburn will be to qualify number one and to go as many rounds to get Joey into winners circle", says Price.

The team heads cross country to Woodburn Dragstrip for the Northwest Nitro Nationals August 28th - 29th. With the Screamin Eagle Championship in their sights, you know the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team will be looking to win the west.

Rain Keeps Sternotti from Running Finals

Weekend of constant rain cuts short eliminations at AHDRA Ohio Bike Week Nationals at Norwalk, OH

Raleigh, NC - June 8, 2010

The Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team continued to gain points in their quest to become the 2010 Screamin Eagle Performance Top Fuel Champion, while contending with the on-and-off rain throughout the weekend. The team earned 41 points in Norwalk giving them an 84 point lead in the standings.

Despite more thunder in the air than on the track the team put down notable numbers during Saturday's qualifying rounds. Although qualifying was limited to two rounds, Sternotti came up with an impressive 6.437 ET at 223.39 MPH in the first round, followed by a 6.610 ET at 213.50 mph in the second.

"With the weather the way it was I have to applaud the efforts of Bill Bader Sr. and his crew for their hard work giving us a great racing surface," Price said.

Sunday's eliminations were delayed due to morning rain, forcing teams to wait until late afternoon to get on the track. Sternotti first ran a solid 6.695 ET at 208.26 MPH to move the team into second round. Sternotti's quickness on the throttle gave the team a hole-shot victory by 1/1000 of a second over his opponent Jay Turner to move them into the finals. Then the rains came again. Even though track staff tried feverishly to dry the track it was inevitable the finals were not going to happen.

Due to the unremitting rains AHDRA eventually had to call the race with only Pro Stock and Top Fuel remaining in the final rounds and therefore those classes were awarded runner-up points and prize money. The team heads to the AHDRA Mid-West Nationals at Kansas City International Raceway June 26th and 27th, 2010. Expect it to be dry and hot, just like the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored nitro Harley race team likes it.

Ray Price Racing Retains Lead in Points AHDRA Chase

Sternotti continues to dominate qualifying at the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Liberty Nationals in Numidia, PA

Raleigh, NC - May 28, 2010

With one goal in mind, 'reaching the winners circle' the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team took to the track at the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Liberty Nationals May 22nd and 23rd.

The Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team captured the number one qualifying position in the second round with an impressive 6.298 ET at 228 mph. In the first round, the team ran a 6.533 ET at 229.94 mph then finished off the day with a 6.331 ET at 228.89 mph. Remarkably, the team has now earned the number one qualifying spot six out the last seven races it has competed in.

Sunday's eliminations brought success in the first round with Sternotti running 6.463 ET at 221.38 mph at the finish line. With a bye run in the second round Sternotti then ran 6.618 ET at 177.09 mph to move the team closer to the finals. While the team's day ended earlier than expected in the third round, their strong performance on the track moved them decisively into first place overall, with a forty-three point lead.

The Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike continues to post consistent numbers race after race. "And it's consistency that ultimately wins races and a shot at winning the championship", remarked Price.

With those spoken words from the legend himself, you know the team will once again be on their game as they head to the Ohio Bike Week Nationals, at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio June 5th and 6th, 2010.

Ray Price Racing Captures First Place

Sternotti takes team to semis at AHDRA Southern Nitro Nationals in Atlanta

Raleigh, NC - May 2, 2010

After getting runner up in the finals two weeks ago in Pheonix the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team was eager to get a win at Atlantic Dragway at the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Southern Nitro Nationals May 1st and 2nd, 2010.

The team had high expectations after capturing the number one qualifying spot, five out six times since the start of the season, but faced its challenges during Sunday's eliminations. Getting past first round of eliminations with a 6.894 ET at 187.42 MPH the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike bowed out early after spinning the tire in the semis. Even after the loss in the semis the team was able to capture the number one spot in their chase for the AHDRA Screamin Eagle Top Fuel national championship. "We certainly faced some unexpected challenges this weekend but with the bike running so consistently it's only a matter of time before we are back in the winners circle", remarked Price.

The Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team had the drag bike tuned to their expectations for Saturday's qualifying. After running a fat 8.828 ET at 131.15 MPH in round one of qualifying, rounds two and three respectively put the team into the number one spot running 6.434 ET at 224.58 MPH followed by a 6.386 ET at 223.28 MPH.

The team now prepares for the Liberty Nitro Nationals at Numidia Dragway May 22nd and 23rd, 2010.

Ray Price Racing Turns Up the Heat at Firebird

Sternotti takes team to finals at the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Arizona Nitro Nationals Raleigh, NC April 19, 2010

It was a long drive from Raleigh, NC to Pheonix, Arizona to attend the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Arizona Nitro Nationals April 17th and 18th, 2010 which is the third race on the schedule for the national championship.

Sternotti twisted the wick of the 1,000 horsepower nitro Harley drag bike all the way to the finals on Sunday only to be shut out once again. For the second AHDRA race in a row the team encountered trouble in the final round, this time spinning the tire.

"With the way the drag bike was consistently getting down the track all weekend we figured the track could handle more power in the final round, but we ended up spinning the tire", remarked Price.

Despite the 93 degree temperatures the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team was on their game again, tuning the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike to capture the number one qualifying spot. In the first round of qualifying Sternotti posted a 6.579 ET at 222.55 mph then went onto run a 6.574 ET in round two. The third round saw Sternotti pilot the drag bike to an impressive 6.318 ET at 224.58 to become the number one qualifier.

Sunday's eliminations started off well with Sternotti capturing a first round win with a 6.667 ET at 220.66 mph. In round two Sternotti pulled off another round win running a 6.721 ET at 187.18 mph to move into the finals.

Despite the disappointment of not making it to the winner's circle, the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team's strong performance over the weekend puts them in second place in their chase for the AHDRA national championship. With only two points out of first place the team will no doubt be looking for a win at their next race in Commerce, GA at the AHDRA Southern Nitro Nationals May 1st and 2nd, 2010.

Sternotti Makes it Two in a Row for Ray Price Racing!

Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team captures its second win at the AMA Dragbike Championship Series Elmer Trett Nationals at Atlanta Dragway April 10th and 11th, 2010

Raleigh, NC

The Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored nitro Harley drag bike continues to show that Harley is still number one against the metric bikes.

While the metric bikes consistently outnumber Harley's in the Funny Bike class at each event, it's the Ray Price Nitro Harley that consistently wins. Proving it again this past weekend.

Sternotti's effort once again sent the team to the winner's podium by running a 6.411 ET at 224.51 mph in the finals against Keith Lynn's Kawasaki powered machine.

"Like last year, winning this event again has special meaning for me, since Trett and I were great friends on and off the track," remarked Price.

In first round qualifying, the team ran an 8.846 ET at only 104.12 mph, but they stepped up their performance in the second round with a 6.419 ET at 227 mph. Although in the third round, the team ran a disappointing 7.433 ET at 138.26 mph, it was good enough to secure a spot in Sunday's eliminations.

The first round of eliminations saw Sternotti run a 6.566 ET at 201.73 mph against Tom Housteau to move into the next round. The team got a by run in the second round and posted a respectable 6.438 ET at 225.26 mph to move into the finals against Keith Lynn.

Sternotti crossed the finish line first to capture the win for the second time, in so many races, as part of the AMA Dragbike Championship Series.

This weekend the team heads to Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, AZ for the AHDRA Arizona Nitro Nationals.

Another Strong Finish for the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team

Sternotti takes team to finals at the AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Cajun Nitro Nationals

Raleigh, NC - March 29th, 2010

At a race track located some 50 miles southwest of New Orleans called No Problem Raceway Park in Belle Rose, LA the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team had one goal in mind, to win the race. With the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored 1,000 horsepower nitro Harley drag bike coming off an impressive win at South Georgia Motorsports Park, the team felt confident.

After spinning the tire in the first round of qualifying on Saturday the team knew the track was going to be tricky. Reading the track correctly paid off when the team posted a 6.517 ET at 222.47 mph in the second round of qualifying. Then in the third round the team suffered the misfortune of crossing the centerline thereby not posting a time. Regardless, the second round qualifying time was still strong enough to land the team the number two qualifying spot going into Sunday's eliminations.

Waking up for Sunday's eliminations the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team felt poised and ready for another strong performance. In the first round Sternotti ran another consistent 6.539 ET at 210.90 mph pass to move the team into second round against Mike Romine. Even though Romine posted a strong reaction time off the lights, Sternotti twisted the wick of the nitro Harley drag bike to another round win with a 6.554 ET at 227.43 MPH.

Unlike the tracks name implies, there was a problem, namely a bump at the 1/8th mile mark that caused the drag bike to unload the tire and drop a cylinder while in a close side-by-side drag race to the finish line against Jay Turner. Even though Turner crossed the finish line first, the Ray Price Nitro Harley still managed to run a 6.664 ET at 203.03 MPH on one cylinder.

Next race for the team is at Atlantic Dragway for the AMA MTC Elmer Trett Nationals on April 10th & 11th, 2010. Then the team heads west to Firebird Raceway in Phoenix Arizona on April 17th & 18th, 2010 for the AHDRA Arizona Nitro Nationals.

The Worlds Quickest Harley. Again!

Ray Price Racing opens 2010 AMA Dragbike season with historic quickest run and win in Funny Bike

Raleigh, NC - March 8th, 2010

While the first official race for the team was the weekend prior at Orlando Speedworld for the 2010 AHDRA season opener, the dismal weather and challenging track conditions prevented the team from what should have been a steller performance. With qualifying called off due to rain and positions set for eliminations based on '09 points, the team still ran a 6.636 ET in second round action then gracefully bowed out after spinning the tire in the semi finals.

The team of Ray Price, Jeremy Hoy, Justin Heinle, Mark Morgan and Joey Sternotti began preparing the 1,000 horsepower Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike for the AMA Bikeweek Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta Georgia.

Pulling the drag bike right out of the box for its first qualifying pass on Saturday the team posted a 6.406 ET at 222.69 MPH. With things looking right where they wanted them the team headed back to the pits to prepare for round two of qualifying. It was while warming the bike up for round two they broke a rocker arm causing the team to miss the second round of qualifying. The team pulled together and brought out a new spare motor and worked feverishly to get it prepared in time to make the final round of qualifying.

In typical Ray Price fashion the team came back with a vengeance and did the unexpected. Sternotti twisted the wick on the Ray Price owned nitro Harley drag bike to post an incredible 6.141 ET at 231.04 MPH! That's 3/1000 quicker than what the team ran back at this same track in November 2009.

In the first round of eliminations on Sunday luck was on the teams side when Ron Maddox broke at the line and even though the Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Bike spun the tire, Sternotti was still able to cross the finish line to move into the next round. Then in round two the team ran a by run posting a 6.377 ET at 229.27 MPH.

In the semis the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike continued to perform well putting down a 6.251 ET at 225.22 MPH against Keith Lynn. In the finals Sternotti captured a convincing win against Travis Davis running at 6.383 ET at 224.58 MPH to take the team to the winners circle.

"Price says that hopefully that this race and the times posted will be an indication of what the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team will be able to deliver during the 2010 race season". The team heads to Belle Rose, LA for the second race of the AHDRA 2010 season for the Cajun Nitro Nationals March 27th and 28th, 2010.

The Ray Price Motorsports team sends sincere thanks to our Primary Sponsor: Ray Price Harley-Davidson.

Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team Launches 2010 Season with Impressive Win

Team is top of the class at CyclePalooza at Palm Beach International Raceway

Raleigh, NC

While some teams get rusty after a few months off, the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team only seems to get stronger. This was the case as the team showed up at Palm Beach International Raceway for the 2nd annual Cyclepalooza January 16th and 17th, 2010.

Jockey Joey Sternotti rode the 1,000 horsepower Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike to an impressive win under the lights in the final round of eliminations posting a 6.309 ET at 225.52 MPH.

Pulling the drag bike right out of the box for its first run of the 2010 season the team posted a 6.230 ET at 229.70 MPH to take the number one qualifying spot. Even though they missed the second round of qualifying due to broken dowel pins on the fly wheel, then spinning the tire in round three, the team still managed to hold onto the number one qualifying spot. Coming back with a vengeance in the first round of eliminations the Nitro Harley Drag Bike set the bar high for the other eight class competitors running a 6.219 ET at 228.23 MPH. Sternotti then twisted the wick on the Ray Price owned nitro Harley drag bike running 6.368 ET at 227.38 MPH to move the team into the finals. Sternotti would then capture the win in the finals against Mike Farnell crossing the finish line first with a worth repeating 6.309 ET at 225.52 MPH. It was at this very track event in 2009 that the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team made history with the fastest side-by-side Top Fuel Harley-Davidson drag race ever, running an electrifying 6.218 ET at 231.7 mph. The team came close to besting this performance achievement running just 1/1000 second's off the mark with a 6.219 ET.

If this race is any indication of what this team will deliver during the 2010 season, other teams should certainly take notice.

The team heads back to Florida for the AHDRA 2010 season opener February 27th and 28th, 2010 at Orlando Speedworld then onto the AMA Bike Week Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park, Valdosta, March 5 - 7, 2010

Ray Price Racing caps stellar season in Funny Bike at AMA Dragbike National Finals

Raleigh, NC - November 18th, 2009

Some might argue that the Grandfather of Funny Bike is now becoming the Father of Showmanship with the way the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team has performed during the 2009 AMA Dragbike race season. Between the string of number one qualifiers, national records and wins captured this season the team showed just how to get it done at the South Georgia Motorsports Park, Valdosta, GA.

In the beginning the Ray Price Racing team struggled along with the other 16 Funny Bike teams during the first round of qualifying on Friday. In preparation for round two of qualifying the team found a leaking transmission seal thus causing the team to pass on the round in order to make the necessary repairs. The Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored race team bided their time and tuned the drag bike for when it counted. Then in the third and final round of qualifying Joey Sternotti of West Collinswood, NJ took to the quarter mile track and piloted the 1,000 horsepower Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Bike to a record breaking 6.144 ET at a incredible 234.37 MPH!

This incredible run set the worlds quickest pass for a naturally aspirated drag bike! The 6.144 ET shatters the past AHDRA Top Fuel Nitro Harley record run held by Tak Shigematsuon who set it with a 6.150 ET back in October 2008. Then the 234.37 MPH run shatters the previous AMA Funny Bike mile per hour record of 232.35 held by yours truly, Ray Price Racing, set at the 20th Annual Pingel Thunder Nationals back in August 2009.

Going into eliminations on Sunday the team got the job done by winning the first and second rounds. In round three the team crossed the finish line first running a 6.497 ET at 199.14 MPH. While not their stellar runs the team always seems to leave the best to the last and the finals were no exception. Up against Travis Davis piloting a Suzuki, Sternotti "turned up the volume" and in true Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team fashion ran a convincing 6.287 ET at 233.76 MPH to capture the win in the final round of eliminations.

The win was an exciting way to finish the 2009 AMA Dragbike Funny Bike Championship series for the team of Ray Price, Jeremy Hoy, Justin Heinle, Mark Morgan, Joey Sternotti and Rose Sternotti. Through hard work and perseverance the team was able to capture 3 first place finishes in the 6 races and with the 2010 season not far off you know the team wants to show why Ray Price is the God Farther of Funny Bike.

Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team ends 2009 AHDRA season with "Rock Solid" performance at Sreamin Eagle Performance Parts Jim McClure Nationals

Team captures 3rd place in the Screamin Eagle Performance Parts Top Fuel Championship

Raleigh, NC - October 12th, 2009

The Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team returned home to Rockingham Dragway for the final race of the 2009 AHDRA season. Known to race fans all over as the "Rock", the track's signature is the Ray Price Harley-Davidson branded bridge. The team has brought excitement to his fans for many years by putting on some of the most memorable passes down Rockingham's quarter mile track.

Many of those memorable runs were against Ray Price's long time friend and competitor Jim McClure for which this race is in honor of. For the19 Top Fuel bikes entered this past weekend the weather proved to be a real test for teams with the threat of rain and cooler temperatures.

Coming into the finals Joey Sternotti from West Collingswood Heights, NJ riding the Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike was 29 points out of first place for the AHDRA national championship. In 4 of the 7 national events on the '09 schedule, the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team has qualified number one, thus setting the stage for another memorable race.

In the first round of qualifying the Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike spun the tire while planting the power of the 1,000 horsepower v-twin motor to the track. In prepping the bike for round two, the team cranked the bike and in doing so broke a rocker arm. Mother nature helped relieve some of the anxiety the team was having by buying them more time as they readied the bike for the third round. The team was able to return for the third round and as a reward for the teams hard work Sternotti ran a convincing 6.397 ET at 225.22 mph putting the team in the number four qualifying spot. The run also provided the top speed in qualifying amongst the 19 top fuel nitro Harley's.

Sunday morning saw a track that had been drenched overnight by showers leaving the team challenged in how to best read the track going into eliminations. In the first round of elimination Sternotti crossed the finish line first with a 6.49 ET at 225 mph. In second round, Sternotti's hope of taking the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team to the winner's podium were cut short in a very close drag race running a 6.38 ET at 226.35 mph to Steve Dorn's 6.29 ET at 219.76 mph.

Even with the early exit, Ray Price's fans showed their gratitude for a great show by the team by standing and cheering on the team as they came down the return road.

"Rockingham is always an exciting race for the the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team, Steve Earwood provides an excellent track and we get to give our fans what they came to see " Price said.

Another stellar performance by the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team at the AHDRA Thunder in the Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway puts them within 5 points of first place in the chase for the Scremin Eagle Top Fuel Championship.

Last weeks remarkable performance by the team at the AMA Pingel Nationals at IRP was the perfect tune up in preparation for this past weekends AHDRA event.

Capturing the number one qualifier spot again with a 6.309 ET at 220.01 mph, the team has achieved this milestone at every AHDRA 2009 event!

In Sunday's eliminations the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team ran an impressive 6.553 ET at 216.48 mph to take the win in the first round. Second round action saw the team run 6.628 ET at 218.48 mph to advance into the semis with a win over J. Turner. Nothing Less than 230 mph at Indy!

Ray Price Racing wins big in Funny Bike at AMA Dragbike Nationals

August 4th, 2009

If this were the Grammy’s, Ray Price Racing would have showed up in style and walked away with 3 gold statues and a couple of records. But this was drag racing and in true fashion boy did they show up in style!

First the team grabbed the number one qualifying spot running an impressive 6.399 ET at 230.49 mph. Then the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team won the race with a convincing 6.306 ET at 231.75 mph. They weren’t finished there. The Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team was able to set two new AMA Funny Bike mile per hour records; 1/8 mile at 206.29 mph and 1/4 mile at 232.35 mph.

The Ray Price Drag Race team did all this the only way the Grandfather of Funny Bike would expect, in style and dressing for the part. The team received three awards, Best Appearing Crew, Number One Qualifier and the 20th Annual Pingel Thunder Nationals Champion award.

Then to “turn the volume up” the team would run every round at no less than 230 mph! In round one of eliminations Joey Sternotti of West Collinswood, NJ piloted the 1,000 horsepower Nitro Harley Drag Bike to the finish line with a 6.411 ET at 230.10 mph. Round two the drag bike ran a 6.490 ET at a bar raising 232.35 mph! Finally, the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored drag bike ran 6.306 ET at 231.75 mph to take the win in the final round of eliminations.

Through hard work and perseverance the team was able to discover the problem that was plaguing them the last couple of races thus resulting in running low ET and top mile per hour in every round. Today the team of Ray Price, Jeremy Hoy, Justin Heinle, Mark Morgan, Joey Sternotti and Rose Sternotti did everything right and put on a show for the fans the only way they know how, quick and fast. When someone said, “it only takes the next race for this team to be a threat”, they could not have been more right!

This weekend the Ray Price Drag Race team heads to the AHDRA Nationals at Bristol Dragway to add more thunder in the valley.

Hardest Working Nitro Harley Race Team

Another Match Race for Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team

July 13th, 2009

For the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team it's not enough to just compete as part of the AHDRA and AMA Dragbike championship series. In between races the team continues to participate at match races across the country.

With the teams strong performance of late they are in high demand to bring their incredible show to tracks that are hungry to see the 1,000 horsepower nitro Harley tear up the quarter mile in six seconds at speeds over 230 mph.

The team showed up this past Saturday at New England Dragway for the "Nite of Thrills" and gave the 1,000's of fans exactly what they came to see. The Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team made two seat shaking passes down the quarter mile dragway while lighting up the night sky with flames shooting from the pipes.

It is this dedication and love of the sport that makes the team the hardest working nitro Harley drag race team in the sport today. The next race for the team is the AMA Pingel Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 1st and 2nd followed by the AHDRA Thunder in the Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway on August 8th and 9th, 2009.

95 degrees and 1/8th mile equals number one qualifier, again!

High temperatures and shortened track doesn't slow Ray Price Racing

June 21st, 2009

The intense heat and running on a eighth mile drag strip at the inaugural AHDRA Mid-West Nationals at Kansas City International Raceway presented little challenge for the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team as it captured the number one qualifying spot for the second AHDRA race row.

Prior to the start of Saturday's qualifying AHDRA made the decision for the Pro Classes to run only the 1/8 mile due to safety concerns over the shut down area. Faced with having to de-tune the 1,000 horse power drag bike to accommodate the shorter track, the Ray Price Drag Race team met the challenge by running a 4.292 ET at 205.62 mph in the first round of qualifying. In rounds two and three the team ran 4.359 ET and 4.175 ET respectively, capturing the number one spot with the last qualifying run.

Teams were presented with a heat index of over 100 degrees and track temperatures reaching over 130 degrees for Sunday's eliminations. This made for very uncomfortable conditions in the staging lanes for riders and slicker track conditions.

"The guys (Ray Price Racing team) worked really hard to get the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored drag bike ready for a track that we knew would be slick, Price said" The race team's hard work proved successful with a first round win running 4.344 ET at 183.37 mph. Then what has plagued the team the last couple races happened again with the drag bike spinning the tire in the second round.

"We do really well during qualifying then the track defeats us in eliminations, Price said" The team has always overcome adversity whether it be the competition or the track, and it only takes the next race for this team to be a threat.

The next AHDRA race for the Ray Price Drag Race team is at Bristol Dragway August 8th and 9th, 2009 The Ray Price Motorsports team sends sincere thanks to our Primary Sponsor Ray Price Harley-Davidson. Not the only Harley in class

AMA Dragbike's Summer Nationals draws more TF Harleys Raleigh, NC - June 15th, 2009

When the Ray Price Nitro Harley Race team showed up at the AMA Bike Week Nationals back in March, they were but one of two top fuel nitro Harley's competing in the Funny Bike Class. This past weekend at US 131 Motorsports Park Mike Romine and Tak Shigematsu made first time appearances in the Funny Bike class.

With the numbers the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Nitro Harley Drag Race Team has been posting both in qualifying and during eliminations at AMA events it was only a matter of time before other nitro Harley teams would be looking to make a challenge.

During testing on Friday the Ray Price Nitro Harley Drag Race Team ran a 9.46 ET at 215.86 mph then came back on Saturday during first round qualifying to post a 6.407 ET at 217.18 mph.

Prior to the final round of qualifying Tak started talking "trash" by saying he was going to take the number one qualifying spot, even though Joey Sternotti and the Ray Price Racing Team has held that title for the last three AMA races. In true fashion, the team rose to the occasion and ran a stout 6.239 ET at 222.33 mph to capture the number one qualifying spot.

While the team was checking the motor over after qualifying there was concern that it did not feel right. "We just couldn't find anything wrong with it, but the team made a decision to change it rather than take a chance, Price said"

The team felt confident going into Sunday's eliminations with a fresh new motor. Diagnosing a track that was hard to read during qualifying presented its challenges again on Sunday.

Paired against Mike Romine in first round, both bikes left the line hard, but at the 60 foot mark Sternotti and Romine each spun the tire and it became a peddle fest to the finish line, with Sternotti running a 8.64 ET to Romine's 8.52 ET.

"The track was hotter today and that caused us to overpower the track, Price said".

World's Fastest Harley!

Ray Price Nitro Harley race team sets new AHDRA MPH record with 231.99 mph pass at Norwalk Ohio

June 6, 2009

It was only a matter of time before the enviable happened. This past weekend at Summit Motorsports Park at the 2009 AHDRA Ohio Bike Week Nationals the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Nitro Harley Drag bike set the AHDRA MPH record running 231.99 mph.

Battling a tricky track during Saturday's qualifying rounds, the race team was able to read the drag strip and tune the bike to capture the number one qualifying spot with at 6.397 ET at 226.16 mph in the third round.

Going into Sunday's eliminations the Ray Price Nitro Harley race team knew the drag bike was performing exceptionally well.

After a convincing 6.483 ET at 227.65 in the first round, Sternotti sets the mark in the second round with a 6.412 ET and a blistering 231.91 mph! The run captured a new AHDRA mph record previously held by Tak Shigematsuon who held the record with a 230.17 mph.

With the bar set high the Ray Price Nitro Harley race team masterfully tuned the drag bike providing the power for Sternotti to back up the record in the semi finals, ironically against Tak. Both the Ray Price Nitro Harley and Sternotti rose to the occasion, not only backing up the record, but bettered it with a 231.99 mph!

"The team knew the drag bike had what it takes to run consistently in the '30's especially after its performance at the Rock back in February, we ran 231.87 and 232.02 mph, Price said"

While it was a new record at the finish line, Sternotti had to concede to Tak Shigematsu's hole shot at the start line. Tak's margin of victory was 0.0109.

The Ray Price Harley Drag Race Team is especially excited about raising the bar another notch at the AHDRA Mid West Nationals at Kansas City International Raceway June 20th and 21st, 2009 The Ray Price Motorsports team sends sincere thanks to our Primary Sponsor: Ray Price Harley-Davidson.

Even the king could not keep the rain from falling.

The team drove all the way to Memphis to compete in the Funny Bike class as part of the 2009 AMA Dragbike Championship series only to have to turn around and head home after the race was called.

With the sky's threatening Friday's test session, the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Nitro Harley Drag Race Team was still able to put down an impressive 6.331 ET at 216.45 mph before the sky opened up.

AHDRA 2009 Season Opener Rained Out

Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team's spirits not dampened from rain shortened race April 18th & 19th, 2009

Despite the race being called Saturday due to rain, the Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell sponsored Nitro Harley Drag Race Team was able to put down some impressive numbers during testing and qualifying.

During Friday's test session the race team felt real good about going into Saturday qualifying after running 6.334 ET at 227.19 mph.

Saturday the team was able to get in two rounds of qualifying before AHDRA called the race due to heavy rain that was expected through Sunday. In round one Sternotti ran 6.442 ET at 216.76 mph then bettered that time in round two with a 6.359 ET at 227.31 mph.

"It's unfortunate the race was called, because the whole team was excited about going into eliminations with the way the drag bike was performing, Price said"

Price Silences Critics with a Win at the Rock

Ray Price Nitro Harley race team debut their new top fuel nitro Harley with "Rock Solid" Win at the AHDRA Screamin Eagle Performance Nationals

Raleigh, NC - October 14, 2008

The legendary Ray Price never gives up, always looking to improve, seeking to perform at the highest level. For the Ray Price Nitro Harley race team Rockingham Dragway is a homecoming. A Rockingham debuting of the new top fuel nitro Harley the team had been developing and painstakingly preparing for the last several months made perfect sense.

While anxiously awaiting his new ride, Joey Sternotti continued to hone his riding skills by piloting his own bike at AHDRA races leading up to the 2008 Rockingham finals. With a 6th place standing in Top Fuel Nitro Harley, Sternotti was eager to build his points lead at the final race of the AHDRA season. In typical Ray Price Racing fashion, the race team of Mark Morgan, Jeremy Hoy and Justin Heinle provided the drag bike to do just that.

With all eyes on Joey Sternotti as he entered the box Friday night for round one of top fuel nitro qualifying, the Ray Price Harley-Davidson sponsored nitro Harley drag bike captured everyone's attention with an impressive 6.285 E.T. at 222.91 mph run.

Sternotti continued to impress, with two very consistent performances in rounds two and three respectively, posted an E.T. of 6.277 at 213.23 mph and an E.T. of 6.388 at 220.98 mph placing him in the number 3 spot going into Sunday's finals.

"This new bike runs so strong, and the guys at Rockingham always provide us with a well prepared track, I can't wait to unleash its potential in Sunday's eliminations said Sternotti"

Ray Price's legions of fans would not be disappointed. "The Ray Price Race team has spent the latter part of the race season building a drag bike that will give our fans the level of excitement they deserve, said Price"

Going into Sunday's eliminations Sternotti kept fans on the edge of their seats, pulling off a decisive win in the first round against Armon Furr, running a 6.330 E.T. at 206.92 mph. Sternotti continued to pick off the competition with close wins in rounds two and three, putting the team into the finals against Mike Romine.

As promised, Sternotti unleashed the power of the new drag bike and ran a 6.289 E.T at 224.51 to capture a very convincing first place win. "The whole team is very excited with the win. Their tireless efforts provided a bike for Joey that we knew would run strong and very consistent, said Price".

That they did, and as a result of the win, Sternotti moved from 6th place to 2nd place in the AHDRA Top Fuel Nitro class point's championship.

The Ray Price Nitro Harley race team will return to Rockingham this weekend performing exhibition runs at the IHRA World Finals.

Ray Price at Rockingham

Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team puts on "Rock Solid" performance at Screamin Eagle Performance Nationals

Joey Sternotti's performance once again very consistent.

Raleigh, NC - October 14, 2007

For the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team Rockingham Dragway is a homecoming. Also known as the "Rock", the dragway is Ray Price's home track and is evident by the Harley-Davidson branded bridge that spans the dragstrip. Ray Price has torn up the Rockingham dragstrip and brought excitement to his fans for many years by putting on some of the most memorable passes down this quarter mile track.

The team's performance at this event brought the same level of excitement, with one exception Joey Sternotti was in the pilot's seat. Since taking over the riding duties mid season, Sternott has continued to impress, racking up very consistence performances in the last four races.

Sternotti remained the number one qualifier after two rounds posting a 6.34 and 6.476 respectively and was just shy of holding onto the number one spot after Doug Vancil ripped off a 6.258 in round three to take the number one spot.

Going into eliminations Sternotti continued to build momentum with a first round win of 6.416 and a second round win of 6.40 to move into the semis against Mike Romine. As a result of tire spin, Sternotti's hope of taking the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team to the winner's podium was cut short in the third round.

Ray Price's fans still showed their gratitude for a great show by standing and cheering on the team as they came down the return road. "I really wanted to capture a win at the "Rock" for this team, they have worked so hard to make the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike perform so well and so consistently" Sternotti said.

"Rockingham has always been real good to the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team, Steve Earwood provides an excellent track and our fans come out in full force" Joey continues to improve by leaps and bounds with each successive race" Price said.

The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team is looking for another great performance when it visits for the first time the "Mecca" of dragstrips, Pomona Raceway, for the California Nationals on November 9th and 10th.

Sternotti's consistent performance continues at Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals

After just three races Joey Sternotti shows lots of talent with the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team

Raleigh, NC - October 9, 2007

Joey Sternotti arrived at the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals this past weekend in Richmond, Va., with a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm for his first NHRA Screamin Eagle Top Fuel Nitro Harley race with the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team.

"Knowing fellow Nitro Harley competitors eyes would all be on me to see how I faired on a really well prepared track, I came pumped and ready to show that I was here to win", says Sternotti

The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike showed just how strong and consistent the bike is recording a first round time of 6.868 followed by a 6.471 at 219.58 to hold the number 2 spot after two rounds of qualifying.

With a big win in round one of eliminations after dusting Takeshi Shigematsu with a decisive 6.420 at 218.09 mph, the team had the best time going into round two. The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike provided the fans the best Nitro Harley drag race of the weekend by making it all the way to the semi's but coming up short to seasoned top fuel racer Bill Furr with a 6.704 to Furr's 6.595.

"The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike performed well all weekend and Joey is progressing fast and showing he has the talent to ride it". Price said. Price went on to say, "I am pleased to see Tommy Grimes here with an opportunity to secure the NHRA Nitro Harley Championship". I am also glad we were able to provide a winning bike to win the first two races"

The team is excited to be going to their home track, "The Rock" this weekend, October 13th and 14th and looking forward to putting on a great show for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team fans.

Sternotti Joins Price to Capture Runner Up at Portland Race

Blackwood NJ native Joey Sternotti suits up with Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team

Raleigh, NC - September 10, 2007

Joey Sternotti came to Bristol with a new ride and a new determined attitude. Knowing he was piloting one the quickest and most feared top fuel nitro Harley's competing today, the excitement was evident on the face of Sternotti.

Sternotti is no stranger to winning, having set numerous performance records and capturing countless titles, he boasts having the "worlds fastest street legal Harley in the world".

But this wasn't enough, wanting to raise the bar even higher, Sternotti desired to enter the league of top fuel nitro Harley competition. After having a successful first half of the season riding his own top fuel nitro Harley, Ray Price offered him the chance to ride. "When Ray Price offered me a chance to ride for him, I jumped at it". "I also knew the dedication, determination and winning attitude that I would need to bring to the team" says Sternotti.

"Joey Sternotti is the new rider for the with Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team. I regret that things were not able to continue with Tommy Grimes". "I wish him the best of luck and thank him for two NHRA Screamin Eagle Nitro Harley Championships" says Price.

With Bristol under his belt and a runner up position at Portland, Sternotti is on the right track for bringing the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team back to the championship podium.

Watch for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team with Sternotti to turn up the heat on the competition at Virginia Motorsports Park October 6th and 7th.

Lightening Strikes Twice for Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley Race Team

Price / Grimes win big at the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway

Raleigh, NC - July 9th, 2007

Coming to the track known as "Thunder Valley", which is carved in the mountains of picturesque East Tennessee, the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team captured the second of three NHRA Screamin' Eagle Nitro Top Fuel Harley exhibition races at Bristol Dragway NHRA events.

A newly paved and well prepared track made conditions just right for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team to grab the number one qualifying spot with a 6.314 ET at 221.02 mph.

Faced with tricky track conditions for Sunday's finals, the team masterfully tuned the drag bike to run consistently and dominated the field in eliminations. With a 6.472 ET at 220.30 mph in the first round, followed by a convincing 6.425 ET at 221.16 mph in the second, then capturing the final round win with a decisive 6.384 ET at 215.89 mph.

"Our ability to read the new track and improve each round gave the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley the edge to win two NHRA Top Fuel Harley events in a row", Price said. The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike gave the fans exactly what they came to see in the finals, three thunderous passes from the 900 horsepower nitro burning two wheeled monster.

"Bristol has been really good to us," Price said. "With it being close to home in Raleigh, NC it is definitely one of my favorite places to race, but not just because we win here. The track and the whole facility are awesome and the fans go crazy every time we run".

The next race for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team is Bristol Dragway August 11 - 12 at the AHDRA Thunder in the Valley Nationals.

Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley Win Big at Topeka NHRA Race

Price / Grimes carry momentum into AHDRA Roeder Harley-Davidson Ohio Bike Week Nationals

Raleigh, NC - June 15, 2007 After a momentous win at the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team Tommy Grimes qualified #1 at the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Top Fuel competition at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH.

Paying retribution for a loss in the finals to Doug Vancil at the AHDRA Southern Nationals, Grimes made certain that it would not be two losses in a row. Qualifying number one, Grimes crushed Vancil with huge speed 226.39 and a stunning elapsed time 6.321 in the Final Round of Eliminations to win the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Exhibition race.

With excellent track conditions and dialed in tuning from the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team, Grimes continued to raise the bar to remain number one qualifier leading into eliminations on Sunday. Posting an impressive round three qualifying ET of 6.488 at 207.78 mph Grimes upped the anti with a round four qualifying time of 6.406 at 220.69.

"When you have a well prepared track that the NHRA serves up and the throttle wide open the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley just wants to devour every inch of the ¼ mile drag strip, and Tommy did just that!", Price said.

Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH was the scene for the AHDRA Roeder Harley-Davidson Ohio Bike Week Nationals where on Saturday Grimes continued the high by qualifying #1 with a 6.458 ET and 214.38 mph. On Sunday, the tide would turn though. After a freshly scraped track with no rubber layed down, the Samson/Ray Price Nitro Harley smoked the tire was unable to the win the round.

Returning to Seattle, WA on June 24-25 Seattle, WA for the AHDRA Kresto Pacific Nationals the Samson/Ray Price Nitro Harley race team will attempt to make it two years in a row by matching last years national event win. The Samson/Ray Price Nitro team returns for a quick turn around to Bristol Dragway for the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on July 6-8, and like the name implies lightening is bound to strike twice making it two for two and pushing the team to another NHRA Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Exhibition Championship.

A newly paved and well prepared track made conditions just right for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team to grab the number one qualifying spot with a 6.314 ET at 221.02 mph.

Faced with tricky track conditions for Sunday’s finals, the team masterfully tuned the drag bike to run consistently and dominated the field in eliminations. With a 6.472 ET at 220.30 mph in the first round, followed by a convincing 6.425 ET at 221.16 mph in the second, then capturing the final round win with a decisive 6.384 ET at 215.89 mph.

“Our ability to read the new track and improve each round gave the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley the edge to win two NHRA Top Fuel Harley events in a row”, Price said.

The Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley drag bike gave the fans exactly what they came to see in the finals, three thunderous passes from the 900 horsepower nitro burning two wheeled monster.

“Bristol has been really good to us,” Price said. “With it being close to home in Raleigh, NC it is definitely one of my favorite places to race, but not just because we win here. The track and the whole facility are awesome and the fans go crazy every time we run”. The next race for the Samson / Ray Price Nitro Harley race team is Bristol Dragway August 11 – 12 at the AHDRA Thunder in the Valley Nationals.
